Service is not a lesser calling — it is the very shape of the life of Christ. A first word on learning to pour yourself out without running dry.
There is a quiet fear underneath most of our busyness: that if we give ourselves away, there will be nothing left. Scripture turns this fear on its head. The towel and the basin were never signs of a small life — they were the chosen instruments of the King.
In this opening episode we trace how Jesus reframed greatness. Not as a platform to be defended, but as a posture to be practised. To serve is to be most like him, and it is in that lowliness that we are, paradoxically, lifted.
As you watch, ask the Lord one question and hold it gently: where have I been waiting to be served, when I was being invited to serve?
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
