Our own understanding makes a poor compass. A teaching on handing God the decision before you make it, and letting him straighten the road ahead.
The mind is a gift, but it is not always a safe guide. It is the gateway where the enemy whispers his suggestions, and the place where we are pressured to decide quickly about our work, our relationships, our future. Scripture is gentle and direct: do not lean on it alone.
Before you take the decision that is sitting in front of you, ask the honest question — have you set it before God? In him we live and move and have our being; he is the source we so easily try to live without. When you acknowledge him in the matter, he answers. He gives you signs. He shows you the proven truth about that person, that company, that path.
So bring him the marriage, the finances, the career, the choice you are about to make. Search for it in his Word, where everything you need is already kept. Surrender your thoughts and say, “God, take over this moment,” and let him direct your path this season.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
